Our Approach
This was a one-day production during peak harvest, built around trust, access, and timing. We spent time with the family ahead of the shoot to ensure the story felt honest, then brought in a small, experienced crew that could move efficiently within an active farm environment. Interviews were captured inside a 200-year-old barn, supported by observational moments throughout the day—allowing the story to unfold naturally while staying grounded in the realities of the work.

THE RESULTS
The film opened Maine Farmland Trust’s annual event, setting the tone with a story that resonated immediately with the audience. It created a stronger emotional connection to the mission, helping engage donors in a more meaningful way while extending beyond the event through continued online engagement. The result is a lasting storytelling asset that continues to support fundraising, advocacy, and awareness around Maine’s working farms.

We were absolutely blown away by the film Lone Spruce produced. They took a lot of complex messaging and wove it into a story with tremendous emotional depth, beauty, and meaning. Audience members have shared how deeply moved they were—it’s a film with real staying power.
